cosmos1999 - a Space: 1999 Mailing List on Yahoo! Groups

Like Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), Gerry Anderson's television adaption of Kubrick's vision, Space: 1999 (1974-76), appears to have grown into an increasingly more relevant metaphore or mythology for the human condition as we journey forwards in the 21th century. Anderson's strategy on using writers investigating themes and relationships between science and spirituality as a part of their own existential odyssey, has made the series an interesting reference point for exploring the post-modern condition.

This group is open and unmoderated, in the spirit of the roundtable conferences on Moonbase Alpha, and has been constructed as a Terra Nova for Alphans all over the world. It's been referred to as "a hard SF, Arts and Metaphysics discussion group on Space: 1999."
